this past weekend i was lucky enough to duck out a couple days from work and head west. yes, that’s right… head west i said. on tap was an accelerated visit to dutch john, UT and the fucking fabulous green river. my roomie and i are both avid fly fisher’s (as are several of my friends) and we were really stoked to get out of the tall city and into the wide open.
so the canyon wasn’t exactly wide open, but you get what i’m saying.
anyhow, it was a great float trip filled with lots of big browns and hot-looking rainbows. seriously – i looked away and i think my roommate made out with a 17″ rainbow. i’m not sure , so don’t call him on it or anything, but … nuff said.
Gabe,
Seeing as it is a saturday and i’m the only one in the office I decided to do a little surfing on the net. I havn’t been to your bolg in a while, so I thought I would take a look. I found it entertaining to myself, that you were so happy to get out of the city and into the west(or as you put it, into the wide open), while I’m sitting here thinking how great it would be to get into the big city for a little while. Denver is hardly NYC as we both know. Funny how the grass is always greener on the other side. Hope life is treating you well!
Peace from the West
Kurt
Nice my gringo friend, hope you can come to chile, to fly fishing here, in the south we got a lot of places to fly finishing.
see ya soon in NY
gabe – looks like it was a fabulous trip, nice pics. fyi- “alaska” john moved out to jackson hole in may, to spend day after day working as a fly-fishing guide. his gig is up in october, and i’m pretty convinced he’ll stay out there a little while longer. you should have made your way up to wyoming and hit up yellowstone too. oh well, next time right? hope you’re doing well. let’s catch up sometime.
ashley!
what’s happenin’? actually you just told me what’s happenin’ so that’s pretty sweet. i obviously kept the comment in which you referred to john as “alaska” because that’s most appropriate.
i just snuck that time off to go fishing. believe me. if i could have i would have went up through wyoming, montana, back down and settled into an eddy somewhere back round ‘rado for a spell.
i’ll write you back more soon. i’m neglecting my blog right now. because i’m selfish and want more time for myself.
