i took this photo when i was in new orleans in the middle of may 2006.
for the past week or so we’ve been doing a lot of work at nytimes.com getting content ready for the one year anniversary of hurricane katrina. it’s been really interesting work and i’ve gotten to see some amazing photos from the stories. the sunday new york times magazine cover piece was a photo essay on the children affected by the hurricane. i worked with a photo producer to put together the online counterpart, Children of the Storm.
